KOLKATA: The Indian challenge was reduced to the doubles in the $15,000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament here on Thursday. Sunil Kumar went down rather tamely to the sixth-seeded Todor Enev of Bulgaria while the other Indian in the quarterfinals, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan could not match the third seed Gabriel Moraru. In doubles, however, an Indian pair was assured of a place in the final, as Vijay Kannan and Ashutosh Singh set up a semifinal clash against Pathanjali Ravishankar and Sunil Kumar. The results (quarterfinals): Singles: Todor Enev (Bul) bt Sunil Kumar 6-3, 6-1; Gabriel Moraru (Rom) bt Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan 6-2, 6-1; Kyu-Tae Im (Kor) bt Simeo Ivanov (Bul) 6-3, 6-1; Artemon Apostu-Efremov (Rom) bt Alexei Kedriouk (Kaz) 6-0, 6-2. Doubles: Artemon Apostu-Efremov and Gabriel Moraru (Rom) bt Stephen Amritraj and Divij Sharan 6-1, 6-2; Vijay Kannan and Ashutosh Singh bt Kai-Lung Chang and Chu-Huan Yi (Tpe) 7-6 (2), 6-4; Pathanjali Ravishankar and Sunil Kumar bt Todor Enev and Simeon Ivanov (Bul) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
