Afghan MP shot dead

KABUL: An Afghan MP, Mohammad Islam Mohammadi, was shot dead in Kabul on Friday, said the Interior Ministry.

Mr. Mohammadi, from the northern Samagan province, was on his way from home to a mosque. His bodyguard was injured in the incident.

Militants have from time to time attacked MPs, who enjoy huge powers like vetoing or approving the Cabinet Ministers. A suicide bombing targeted another MP, Bachah Khan Zadran, on December 22 in Kabul. Mr. Zadran escaped unhurt. — Xinhua
