Corrections and Clarifications
The second paragraph in "Microsoft to focus on Indian research" ("Campus Jottings", Delhi, February 1, 2007, page 3) was: "Currently working with 15 academic institutions, including the IITs in Bangalore and Mumbai and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, [Microsoft Research India] MSR India aims to collaborate with external organisations to further technology research in the country and build up a strong research eco-system." The seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are located in Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), Mumbai (IIT Bombay), Chennai (IIT Madras), Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), Delhi (IIT Delhi), Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) and Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). Bangalore does not have a campus of the IIT. Microsoft Research India (Bangalore) clarifies that the sentence should have been: "Currently working with 15 academic institutions, which include the IITs, the IIITs (the institutes of information technology) and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, [Microsoft Research India] MSR India aims to collaborate with external organisations to further technology research in the country and build up a strong research eco-system."
