BCCI curator to inspect stadium

VIJAYAWADA: Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) curator P. R. Viswanathan will inspect the on-going works at the Andhra Cricket Association's new stadium coming up at Mangalagiri near Vijayawada on Saturday.

The work to lay seven turf wickets is in progress in the 20-acre site.

Selected for Nationals

Krishna District's K. Sujan Kumar, P. Jaipal Singh will represent Andhra in the senior Nationals which will be held at Kolkata from March 19 to 24.

P. Pushpalatha, who finished fourth in the senior inter-district championship concluded at Visakhapatnam recently, will represent women singles, while S. Lakshmi and B. Vijaya Kumari will represent the veterans' segment, according to Krishna District Carrom Association joint secretary C. Sudhakar.

Guntur athletes D. Bharata Reddy and B. Rajesh are part of the AP athletic contingent for National Games at Guwahati (Assam) from Feb 9.

Bharata Reddy will take part in the 400m and 4x400 relay and Rajesh will take part in the discus event, according to Vinayak Prasad, SAI coach. — Sports Reporter
