Rivals produce certificates to show that they have 3 children each

ANANTAPUR: The nomination papers of Congress and TDP nominees for the third ward were rejected by officials during the scrutiny of papers of Hindupur Municipal Council elections at Hindupur on Saturday.

Their papers were rejected as the two candidates had three children each and the certificates to prove the fact were produced by the rivals.

According to officials, papers of Iliyas (Congress) and Shahnawaz (TDP) were rejected and their dummies' papers were found to be proper. Both the candidates mentioned that they had only two children in their nomination papers but had secured documentary evidence against the rival candidate of having three children, forgetting their own misadventure.

In all, 432 candidates filed their nomination papers for 38 wards, including 229 on the last day on Friday. February 6 is the last day for withdrawal.

Several rebels have filed their papers against the official party nominees of both TDP and Congress.

The problem is relatively negligible for BJP and MIM, the other two parties in the fray.
