Families of Nithari victims meet Mulayam, seek jobs

SEEKING JUSTICE: Parents and relatives of the victims of the Nithari serial killings with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at his residence in Lucknow on Sunday.

LUCKNOW: Family members of the victims of the Nithari serial killings met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at his residence here on Sunday and demanded jobs and shelter. They also urged Mr. Yadav to reconsider the transfer of Noida SSP R.K.S. Rathore. Mr. Rathore was moved out on Saturday and attached to the DGP's office.

The next of the kin of the victims were led by three social workers of Noida, Satish Chandra Mishra, Kusum Agarwal and Balesh Sharma.

In a memorandum, the family members stated that while the former Noida SSP was punished for no fault of his, punishment to the administrative officers and policemen guilty was being delayed.

Mr. Yadav was apprised of the delay in getting compensation of Rs. 5 lakh.

Pappu Lal, whose eight-year-old daughter was missing for the last few months, told Mr. Yadav that he had been receiving threats that his elder daughter would be kidnapped.

Mr. Yadav assured the parents that the Government would consider their demands. On giving jobs to the family members of 17 Nithari victims, Mr. Yadav said the demand was under consideration.
