42 police officials repatriated

Staff Reporter

It is alleged that major violations under local and non-local quota are made in the Police department

HYDERABAD: In what is described as a crucial development stage in the implementation of GO 610, the Government on Monday issued orders repatriating 42 Inspectors of Police working in Hyderabad city to their respective zones. A special GO Rt. No. 124 to this effect issued three days ago was sent to the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate, creating ripples in police circles. While some of the repatriated officers are planning to move the Supreme Court against the latest order, the local police officials are nurturing hopes of being promoted and accommodated in the city police. Postings in contravention of the GO 610 in the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate has been a bone of contention. It has been alleged that major violations, pertaining to recruitment under local and non-local quota, have been made in the Police Department. Recruitments to posts of Sub-Inspector are made on a zonal basis. The State has been divided into six zones.

The GO 124 said the repatriated officers were in excess of the 30 per cent non-local quota in zone VI comprising Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts. It directed the Director-General of Police to create supernumerary posts in the zones concerned, if necessary.

Sources said this was only a beginning and repatriation of the SIsrecruited in excess of non-local quota would follow the suit. This was the first time that a major repatriation in the Police Department was undertaken in pursuance of GO 610.
