Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on February 8 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the following areas: Eluthukaran Street, T.H Road, Vanniar Street, Thirichina Kuppam, Market Lane, Sannadhi Street, Poongavanpuram and Horizon Apartment in Kaladipet; Subramani Street, Sundaram Street and Lane and Purasawalkam High Road in Kilpauk.

Seminar

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry will organise a two-day seminar on "Going Global to Become SMEs of the Future" on February 12 and 13 at Park Sheraton. Consul General of Japan, Yoshiaki Kodaki, will deliver a special address at the inaugural.

Meeting of poets

ONGC organised a "Kavi Sammelan" in Hindi and Tamil on February 4. Titled as "Bharati Sangama Kaviyarangam", the programme brought out nuances of poetry and singing in both languages. Nearly 13 poets participated including Hullarh Muradabadi and P.B Srinivas.

Workshop

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation will conduct training courses for employers and EPF members through the zonal training institute. It will be held on

Eye camp

Department of Social Work, Madras Christian College, and Sankara Eye Hospital in Pammal will organise a free eye surgery camp at IPC Church, 3rd Street, Kamaraj Nagar in Chengelpet on February 10 from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The camp is for elders with cataract problems. The hospital will arrange accommodation, travel and food of those who will be referred for surgery. For details, contact 94448 45428.

Expedition

Major S. Palani and a team of 15 cadets from DRBCCC Hindu College in Pattabiram are on a motorcycle expedition from February 6.

They will cover Dharmapuri, Ooty, Guruvayoor, Mayiladudurai spreading the message of "Green Earth and Clean Air". They will return on February 11.
