ANANTAPUR: The district police on Wednesday unearthed six powerful landmines planted by Maoists targeting the police and politicians near Venkatagiripalyam and Duddekunta villages of Penukonda mandal in the district. HYDERABAD: The Director of School Education has issued an order directing that salaries should not be paid to those teachers who are working in other schools and not for those from which they receive payments. Award for junior scientist

TIRUPATI: National Environmental Science Academy (NESA) has selected U. Sivaiah, a researcher at SVU Zoology department, for the `Junior Scientist 2006' award. His selection is in recognition of his contribution to studies in environmental toxicology. TTD mass marriages

ONGOLE: Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) has extended the date for receiving applications for free marriage up to February 12. The marriages will be performed in every Assembly constituency under the auspices of TTD on February 22, according to nodal officer C. Ramakoteswara Rao.

They have received 54 applications for free marriages till now - Ongole (5), Singarakonda (10), Chirala (10), Cumbum (7), Giddalur (5), Kondepi (5), Inkollu (3), Markapur (3), Martur (2), Kanigiri (2), Darsi (1), Tangutur (1).
