HIGH DRAMA: P. Santosh after climbing atop the radio mast at Adilabad police station on Thursday.

ADILABAD: A person of Mahalaxmiwada in Adilabad town gave the rural police anxious moments for nearly one-and-a-half hours on Thursday when he threatened to jump from the high radio mast at the police station.

P. Santosh had a curious demand: both his wives must agree to live with him. According to T. Moses, rural SI, Santosh's first wife Devata of Chanda had complained against him of bigamy about three months ago. He was counselled to live with his legal wife. However, after some time, Santosh began visiting his second wife Sangeeta which prompted Devata to lodge another complaint.

Based on the complaint, the police detained him for further counselling. Escaping notice of policemen, he climbed the radio mast within the police station premises and threatened to jump from it until the two wives promised him that they would live with him. After one hour's search, both women were located and Santosh was persuaded to climb down. A case was registered against Santosh for attempting to commit suicide.
