Sangareddy: The online police network eCops would become fully functional in Medak district by June. The networking of all the 59 police stations in Medak, the largest among Telangana districts, has already begun and 16 stations have been given the CDMA connectivity.

Training

Once completed any one could track the progress of a particular case through the click of a mouse.

Inching close to the set target, the eCops project aimed at complete automation has already become functional in 13 major police stations. More than 175 policemen, including officers, completed training in 11 batches on the day-to-day usage of the eCops concept. Important police stations like Sangareddy town and Rural, Zaheerabad, Patancheru and Ramachandrapurm have begun implementing the system and generating reports to be sent to the DIG's office every day.

Speaking to The Hindu , A. Viswaprasad, in charge of the programme at the police headquarters, said that the training capsule includes learning of filling of basic Integrated forms like the FIR, search register, arrest card, bail bond, chargesheet, appeal forms and court disposals. The police were also taught how to make modifications in the e-paper.

Viswaprasad pointed out that the officers and police station writers could easily operate the computers after completion of the training capsule. Medak one of the nine districts in the State where the concept is being taken up hopes to bring in paperless administration in its police stations through networking.

It plans to launch EPIC (electronic police information centre) portal enabling them to embark on complete automation.

Work is in progress to provide a web-based environment with a single logon, maintaining complete data integrity and security while removing any time and geographical boundaries.
