`Maintain proper health records'

Call for records at district, taluk hospitals


  • Hospital authorities urged to contribute to task

    BELLARY: Director of the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) Khaja Naseeruddin has said that the documentation and maintenance of health records, especially in villages, is important as it will help the Government formulate a comprehensive health policy.

    Presiding over the two-day 7th annual National Medical Records Conference, "MEDRECON - 2007", which began at the VIMS auditorium here on Friday, Dr. Naseeruddin said that while the documentation and maintenance of records were being followed in major Government and private hospitals, there was a need to do so at district and taluk hospitals and primary health centres too.

    "The maintenance of proper health records will help improve the quality of services provided at hospitals," he said.

    He said all hospital workers, including doctors, nurses, technicians and paramedical staff, could contribute towards this task.

    Minister for Tourism B. Sriramulu, who inaugurated the conference, urged all hospital authorities to contribute towards a proper documentation of records.

    Souvenir release

    G. Karunakar Reddy, MP, who released a souvenir, advocated the use of technology for maintenance of records at hospitals. He said he would discuss the matter with the Ministry of Health to ensure that measures were initiated in this regard. He also promised to see to it that the people got proper health services.

    Delegates from different States as well as from Sri Lanka and Nepal participated in the conference. Secretary of the Karnataka Health Records Association Sanna Veerabhadragowda welcomed the participants.
