Samithi seeks reservation for poor

BIDAR: The Hyderabad Karnataka Horata Samithi (HKHS) launched the next phase of its agitation, that is to cover the entire Hyderabad-Karnataka region, in Bidar city on Saturday demanding an amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution to provide reservation in education and employment opportunities to people of the backward classes. They have also demanded that the recommendations of the High Power Committee for Redressal of Regional Imbalances be implemented.

Procession

The samithi took out a procession in the city and submitted a memorandum on the issue to the district authorities. The procession was led by samithi president Vaijnath Patil, MLA. Bidar Lok Sabha member Narasinghrao Suryavanshi, BJP MLA from Bhalki Prakash Khandre, Congress MLC Khaja Arshad Ali and several other leaders from other political parties participated along with representatives of other organisations and thousands of students. The agitators also staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
