Admission time

The end of an academic year brings with it the admission procedure for new entrants to school. Private schools utilise the opportunity to make big money. They charge exorbitantly for the application form — much more than the printing and stationary cost — as if they spent huge time and brains preparing it. It is nothing more than a few columns seeking personal details, including the paying capacity of parents. The crowd throngs a few schools only because of the lack of basic facilities in government schools.

As everyone believes that fluency in English is a must, the government should take steps to improve the quality of education and facilities in schools run by it. It should create a situation where professional institutions should prefer government school products over students of branded private schools. This will reduce the growing dominance of private schools.
