Dreams shattered

Hopes dashed, dreams shattered, the city's cricket lovers are not going through the best of times. Just like V.V.S. Laxman.

As if the non-inclusion of the stylish batsman in the World Cup team was not enough, local cricket aficionados saw Laxman pulling out of the Hyderabad team for the ongoing South Zone Ranji Trophy one-day tourney. The result: Andhra routed Hyderabad by 92 runs.

Hope a similar fate does not await the Indian team at the World Cup.
