Travel agency owner murdered in a brawl

BANGALORE: Following a financial a dispute, Ganesh (39), proprietor of a travel agency, was stabbed to death in Sanjaynagar police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said Ganesh, a resident of MSR Nagar, had lent Rs. 40,000 to his friend Raghu some time ago. The relation between the two friends had soured because Raghu had not repaid the loan.

On Tuesday night, their friends intervened as peacemakers. However, around midnight while Ganesh was walking towards his house, Raghu, who arrived on a motorcycle, waylaid him near the Maramma temple on New BEL Road.

He fatally stabbed Ganesh in the abdomen with a knife. The Sanjaynagar police have registered a case.

Hit-and-run case

Raju (30) was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from the Upparpet traffic police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police said that around 1 a.m., a vehicle ran over Raju opposite the Upparpet police station.

Raju was recently released from Beggar's Relief Centre. The Upparpet traffic police have registered a case.

Murder accused held

The Ramamurthynagar police have arrested Pillappa (34) of Sir M.V. Nagar on the charge of murdering Gangalappa (48) on February 11. Following a petty quarrel, the accused had hit Gangalappa on the head with a brick, the police said.

VCDs seized

The Central Crime Branch staff on Tuesday arrested four persons and seized from them 3,705 pirated VCDs, DVDs and MP3 discs, all estimated at Rs. 7.20 lakh.

The police said the accused were selling the pirated discs on a pavement near the ISRO junction on Airport Road.

The arrested were identified as Kuppuswamy (22) of Avenue Road, S. Ganesh (19) of Jalahalli, Ramakrishna (25) of Siddapura and Pandiyan (23) of 3rd Stage, Banashankari.
