Projects worth Rs. 28,000 cr. cleared

BANGALORE: A meeting of the State High Level Clearance Committee for Industrial Investments (SHLCC), chaired by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, held here on Friday, cleared 30 projects with an investment potential of Rs. 28,000 crore.0

Addressing presspersons after the meeting, Minister for Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu said the proposed projects, spread across 18 districts, would have an employment potential for 1.43 lakh people. Among the projects cleared, 15 were manufacturing units apart from three special economic zones.

The new projects will cover 16 industrial sectors, including the much-talked about gas distribution network and agri business centres.

The Reliance company's gas distribution network will cover 67 towns in 27 districts with an estimated investment of Rs.12, 000 crore ensuring the generation of 46,000 jobs.

He said two new units with an overall outlay of Rs. 14,000 crore with 76,000 job opportunities would cover some of the districts that were to be finalised.

Of the new projects cleared by the SHLCC, four units would come up at Belguam at an estimated outlay of Rs. 684.20 crore and an assured 2028 job opportunities.

Bangalore Urban would get three new projects with an estimated investment of Rs. 941.90 crore and assured generation of 34,000 jobs. Three projects would be launched in Mysore district.
