Terror acts on the rise under UPA: Swamy

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy said on Saturday that terrorist activities had increased under the United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre.

Making a specific reference to Tamil Nadu, Dr. Swamy told newspersons that under the DMK regime of M. Karunanidhi the banned LTTE was infiltrating the State.

In 1991 when he was Law Minister in the Chandra Shekhar Government at the Centre he was instrumental in the dismissal of the then Karunanidhi Government on the same grounds. On the political situation in Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Swamy accused Governor T.V. Rajeswar of dilly-dallying in sending the report to the Union Home Ministry allegedly at the behest of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. He said the Governor was also responsible for the law and order situation in the State.

Hindu vote bank

Dr. Swamy advocated a Hindu vote bank, and said a Hindu agenda would be adopted at the Hindu Renaissance Day conference in Lucknow on Sunday. The conference is being organised by the Brahmin Swabhiman Andolan Samiti founded by Dr. Swamy in 1994.

He said the agenda for the national integrity of the country would be circulated to all political parties.

The agenda was based on the resolutions of the the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha convened by Swami Dayananda Saraswati of the Arsha Vidyalaya Gurukulam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

He said the agenda had been approved by all the Jagadguru Shankaracharyas, prominent Mahamandaleshwars and "peethadipatis."

Varna system

The name of the country should be Hindustan, Sanskrit should be the national link language, Varna system was irrelevant, rewriting the country's history and evolving a collective mindset against the attacks on the Hindus were the main points of the agenda, he said.
