Bidar: The Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha has condemned the State Government's plans to reduce the proposed grant to the Basava Kalyan Development Board (BKDB). Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had promised during his visit to Basava Kalyan that BKDB's grants would exceed Rs. 150 crore. Now, Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar had declared in the Assembly that the Board would get only Rs. 100 crore, mahasabha president and former Minister Bheemanna Khandre said in a release. "This is injustice. If the Government does not change its stance, we will organise a Statewide protest," he said.
Welcomed
He has, however, welcomed the Government's decision to award the Karnataka Ratna award to Sri Shivakumar Swami of Siddaganga Math.
