Buddhadeb turns 64

Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee turned 64 on Thursday. He was greeted with flowers by well-wishers.

However, Mr. Bhattacharjee missed his CPI(M) colleague — the late Anil Biswas, who would also have turned 64 the same day. Biswas, Politburo member and the party's State secretary, died last year.

"It is painful as the day brings back many old memories of Anil, who was also born the same day. I rang up his wife in the morning," Mr. Bhattacharjee said.

He went about his normal schedule in his office at the State Secretariat and received wishes from friends and colleagues. — PTI
