Region's folk songs reverberate during celebrations at OU

HYDERABAD: Osmania University campus reverberated with Telangana sentiment and the huge gathering on the Holi evening was swept by the Telangana mood built up by the region's folk songs highlighting the `injustice' meted out to the region.

The occasion was the Telangana Dhoom Dham, organised by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti Vidyarthi Vibhag (TRSV) at the Arts College on Saturday evening marking the Holi festival.

Presence of MLAs

Enthusiasm was palpable and the emotion was whipped up by popular singers like Goreti Venkanna, Guda Anjaiah and other artistes from various parts of the region.

The presence of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLAs Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Etela Rajender, T. Padma Rao and Padma Devender added the needed excitement to the crowd.

The chief guest of the evening K. Rama Rao, son of TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, reminded that students always played a big role in the Telangana movement and it was their responsibility to take the movement to its logical end.

He wanted the Government to implement 610 GO strictly. Senior academics including Kodandaram explained how the rulers had neglected the region over the decades and led to the present plight of the people. Bonthu Rammohan, president, TRSV was present.
