PANAJI: DLF Group, a real estate and construction major, has bagged the contract for constructing around Rs. 400-crore international convention centre of the Goa Government coming up at Dona Paula near here. The project will be constructed on build operate and transfer(BOT) basis. Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane said on Friday that DLF would pay the Government around Rs. 161 crore upfront and sign the BOT contract. The centre will be completed in 18 months. This will be a Public Private Participation (PPP) project on 25 acres of land. At present the land is under dispute, with a petition filed by teachers of Goa University objecting to the Government's plans to take away University land. However, the High Court recently allowed the Government to go ahead with the tender process until further orders.
