BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court has reserved for orders a petition by Zaheer Ahmed Maniyar, Abdul Karim Telgi's relative, seeking his release on bail. The CBI opposed the bail saying Maniyar, an accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket, is a close relative of Telgi, the main accused in the racket. Special Public Prosecutor of CBI B.R. Nanjundaiah said Maniyar had collected valuable documents pertaining to Telgi and kept them in Mumbai, Athani and other places. He said the documents were seized on June 23, 2003 when the Stamp Investigation Team was in charge of the case. Mr. Nanjundaiah submitted that the Special Court in Parappana Agrahara, which is hearing the fake stamp paper case, had framed charges against Maniyar and that the case stands posted to March 14 for recording of evidence.
`Serve copies'
Mr. Shantangouder on Tuesday directed the BJP MLC from Bellary C. Janardhan Reddy to serve copies of the petition he had filed regarding the mining scandal to the State Public Prosecutor S. Dore Raju.
