Instant money order service being extended

The facility is now available in 21 Head Post Offices in the State

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Department of Posts is extending instant money order service to all the Head Post Offices in the State.

The service is now available in 21 Head Post Offices in the State - Thiruvananthapuram GPO, Thycaud, Neyyattinkara, Kollam, Karunagapally, Kottarakara, Thiruvalla, Alappuzha, Kayamkulam, Mavelikara, Cherthala, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Aluva, Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha, Malappuram, Manjeri, Kozhikode, Kalpetta and Thalassery.

Amounts between Rs.1,000 and Rs.50,000 can be remitted through this system. The minimum commission is Rs.150.

Additional charge of Rs.20 will be collected for every Rs.5,000.

The receiver can take payment instantly from any of the post offices provided with this facility after getting the 16-digit secret code from the sender.

Voter's identity card or driving licence or passport should be produced at the post office as identity proof.
