Special honour for conductor

RTC pays tribute to its women employees on International Women's Day

HYDERABAD: The State Road Transport Corporation's tribute to women on International Women's Day saw P. Manjula, a conductor with the BHEL depot coming in for special honours.

Ms. Manjula was presented with a cash award of Rs.500 and an appreciation letter for her honesty while returning a cash bag containing Rs.1.1 lakhs and other items that was misplaced by a passenger on her bus.

Apart from Ms. Manjula, 15 lady conductors were also presented with cash awards and mementoes for achieving the highest earning per kilometre (EPK) while appreciation letters were given to 78 employees for highest EPK and best attendance among other categories.

Assurance

APSRTC Hyderabad Zonal Chairman K. Sanjeeva Reddy, speaking on the occasion, assured the lady conductors that efforts were on to provide them with rest rooms and toilets in all the bus depots.

City Regional Manager C. Pandu Ranga Murthy promised to sort out all problems at the terminals and to provide facilities wherever feasible.

The APSRTC, in connection with Women's Day, also launched four more `Ladies Special' buses, thus taking the total number of such buses to 24 in the city.
