SAP aid for Department of Politics

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has sanctioned Rs.27.5 lakh as grant for the Department of Politics, University of Kerala, under the Special Assistance Programme (SAP).

The UGC will also provide Rs.5 lakh for the appointment of a project fellow and funds for modernisation programme at the department, a press release issued on Thursday said.

The UGC has directed the Head of the Department G. Gopakumar to be the coordinator of SAP-related projects and member of the faculty J. Prabash to be deputy coordinator.

The department, which is celebrating its golden jubilee, has under it the UGC-Nehru Study Centre, V.K. Krishna Menon Study Centre for International Relations, the Survey Research Centre and the V.K. Sukumaran Nair Chair for Parliamentary Affairs, the press release added.
