CHENNAI : Hindustan College of Engineering, a member of the Chennai-based Hindustan Group of Institutions, was conferred the Gurukul Jyothi Award 2006 for excellence in education at a function in Delhi recently. Anand Jacob Verghese, Additional Director of the Group, received the award from the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, R.C. Lahoti. Mr. Verghese said the award was in recognition of the contribution to and excellence in education achieved by Hindustan College of Engineering.
Centre of excellence
"The Aeronautical Engineering Department at the College has been recognised as a Centre of Relevance and Excellence for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering under the auspices of Technology Information Forecasting & Assessment Council by the Union Department of Science & Technology," he said.
