CHENNAI: The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and corporate research firm Kaybase organised a contest for college students recently to devise a unique marketing strategy for `Fun and Focus', Kaybase's online children's magazine. Velammal College of Management Studies emerged winners while the team from Women's Christian College came second. The other teams who made it to the finals were AIMA LIBA, Ethiraj College for Women, St.Peters Engineering College School of Management Studies and Velammal College of Management Studies. The winners took home a cash prize of Rs.2,000 while the runners-up were presented with a cash prize of Rs.1,000, along with gift hampers and certificates. 2More than 100 students participated in the contest. Five teams made it to the finals. An eminent panel of judges, including Prof. S. Ramachander, leading strategic consultant, A. Satish Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, Henkel India and R. Ashok, Director, Kaybase, selected the winners of the finals. The judges for the semi-finals were L.V. Navaneeth, Station Head, Radio One, and Anirrudha Haldar, National Sales Manager, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts. The contest aimed at motivating students to think innovatively and encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship. The participating teams came up with novel ideas and business plans to increase awareness of and the subscription base for the magazine, which aims at encouraging reading habit in children. This contest formed part of the weeklong celebrations marking the `Entrepreneur Week' celebrated by NEN. The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), founded in 2002, is a not-for-profit initiative of the Wadhwani Foundation.
