YSR promises GO 610 implementation

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy assured agitated Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) members in the Assembly on Wednesday that the Government would implement GO 610 in letter and spirit.

The Assembly was adjourned twice earlier amid noisy scenes after TRS and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members stalled question hour as their adjournment motions were rejected by Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy. The TRS had tabled notice on implementation of the six-point formula in public sector undertakings while the TDP motion was on alienation of Government/private lands.

Initially, the Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes after TDP members raised slogans. TRS members, holding aloft placards, disrupted the proceedings, ignoring repeated appeals from the chair. When it re-assembled, the TDP relented after the Speaker assured it of admission of its notice under a different rule while TRS members rushed to the podium and were seen arguing with Mr. Reddy.

At this stage, the Chief Minister intervened to say that the Government was sincere in implementing GO 610. A House committee was appointed to monitor its implementation. Besides, an officers' panel and a Cabinet sub-committee were also closely monitoring it.

The Government had no objection to extending the scope of the GO to corporations.
