THE BANGALORE University Department of Commerce was abuzz last week with its two-day annual commerce fest called the "COM VISION" for postgraduate commerce and management students. The event was open to students from all South Indian universities. After a formal inauguration by Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murthy, the event started off with an "Ice Breaker" to let participants get to know one another better. Soon, it was time for the U.G. quiz, a contest that saw the team from Vijaya College emerge victorious. The festival added more spice with "Dalal Street," a mock stock market game where the participants had to trade in an outcry system. Among the guests viewing the game were Venkatachala of Hexagon Securities and Pandey of Kotak Securties. More fun followed with songs and dances, Mad Ads, Skits and a fashion show. Events such as "Venture Capital," "Crisis Management" and "Best Manager" too were popular. At the end, students from Mangalore University won the overall trophy.

It is seen as an opportunity for students to share their perspectives on latest technology spectrum. Engineering students of 2007 and 2008 batches can participate in the competition titled "Techno Vista 2007." The students will have to choose specific areas of telecom and embedded systems to carry out their research. Short-listed teams will be invited to the company's facility at Whitefield for presentation of papers to an expert panel for final evaluation.
