`People are fed up with the corruption in MCD'

NEW DELHI: While warning their 272 candidates against any complacency, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders on Monday expressed confidence that the party would win the forthcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections.

Speaking at a meeting of all the party candidates, the chairman of the Election Campaign Committee, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, said people were fed up with the corruption in the last MCD and wanted a change. As such, he declared that the party would also secure a record victory in the polls. Prof. Malhotra also apprised the candidates about the facilities that would be provided to them at the Delhi BJP headquarters. The meeting was also attended by Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan and national leaders Kidar Nath Sahani, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Sahib Singh Verma, Anita Arya and Jagdish Mukhi.

Ms. Swaraj declared that the pitch was in favour of the BJP, and the party now only needed to frame an aggressive and foolproof strategy to secure the votes. Dr. Vardhan urged the workers to go from door to door to seek votes and apprise the voters of the prevailing issues of corruption, price spiral and appeasement. "We will provide a people-friendly MCD,'' he added.
