High Court imposes fine on ISKCON

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on an International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple here for lifting verbatim the script of Ram Lila written and staged by Shri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra and acting it out during the "Navratras'' last year.

Justice A. K. Sikri passed the order on a suit by the Kala Kendra accusing the temple management of violating its copyrights on the script. He directed the temple management to pay the fine to the Kala Kendra within four weeks.

Mr. Justice Sikri directed the Kala Kendra to use the fine money for charities.

Photographer killed in accident

NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old woman photographer working with the Business Standard was killed in a hit-and-run case at Dhaula Kuan here on Monday.

According to the police, Rekha Shankar was riding a scooter when a speeding truck hit her from behind. Rekha was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a few hours later.

Air Force employee among three held

NEW DELHI: An Indian Air Force employee, a model and a property dealer have been arrested by the Special Staff of the South Delhi police for alleged involvement in cases of robbery. The police claim to have recovered two country-made firearms, part of the stolen money and three vehicles from the accused.

Aman Virmani, a property dealer from neighbouring Haryana, lodged a complaint with the South-West Delhi police alleging that he was robbed of Rs. 3.5 lakh at Vasant Kunj on March 3.

Seven arrested in murder case

NEW DELHI: Seven persons have been arrested at Patel Nagar here in connection with the murder of a waiter.

According to the police, Lucky, a small time contractor, had hired four waiters for a function a couple of months ago. On Sunday evening, he asked them come near Satyam Cinema to collect their payments. However, when they reached there, Lucky accompanied by a group of people allegedly attacked them.
