HYDERABAD: Telangana Sambaralu -- a five-day cultural and food extravaganza being held at the Nizam College grounds here from Friday -- will be an annual feature of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS). After formation of Telangana State, it would be organised as a State festival on the lines of the one hosted by Haryana Government every year at Surajkund, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao told reporters at the venue after going round the kitchen and food courts on Thursday. Mr. Rao said the folklore and the rich cultural heritage of Telangana would be on display at the event. All food items peculiar to Telangana would be sold.
Local touch
A local touch would be given with the sale of Hyderabadi cuisine comprising biryani, `pathar ka gosh' and Nizami hundi. Dastakari -- embroidery that was popularised by Asafjahi dynasty -- would also be on display among other exhibits. Gandra Praveen Rao, who will manage the show, said that about 150 cooks from Warangal, Nizamabad and Karimnagar were involved in the preparations. Some 300 food items would be sold in the price range from Rs. 5 to 80. Some rare items like `chenangaku tokku' and `jellala pulusu' (a soup of jellala variety of fish that is found in water bodies of Telangana) would be available.
