Water agency official held on graft charge

HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday arrested Adilabad District Water Management Agency Project Director L. Venkatram Reddy on the charge of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Searches conducted at his office and residences at Adilabad and Hyderabad revealed that he owned properties worth over Rs. 55 lakhs, according to a press release.

Among his properties were an independent house and two flats in Hyderabad and another house at Nirmal in Adilabad district, four plots on city outskirts, two plots in Nizamabad district and 15 acres of agricultural land in Adilabad.

He would be produced before a special court at Hyderabad.

Mohd. Zaheeruddin, a Senior Assistant working in Nagarkurnool Mandal Revenue Office in Mahbubnagar, was arrested at his office by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Thursday on the charge of accepting Rs. 2,000 bribe from a person. The accused officer would be presented before a special court at Hyderabad.
