Kalam to be invited to felicitate Karunanidhi

CHENNAI: The committee formed to felicitate Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on his completion of 50 years as a member of the Assembly decided on Thursday to invite President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to the function to be held in the House.

May 8, 9 and 10 are the dates fixed for the event and a day of Mr. Kalam's convenience would be selected for his address to the Assembly. The next day leaders of the parties represented in the State legislature would speak. The subsequent day's events would be held at Kalaivanar Arangam where literary events would be organised.

To mark the conclusion of the events, a public meeting would be organised on Island Grounds, to which Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister V.P. Singh and many other leaders would be invited.
