Power supply to be disrupted

KOCHI: Power supply will be disrupted in the area from Vyttila Sub-Station to Pettah Junction and along Kaniyampuzha Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday owing to the maintenance work in the electrical line, says statement from the KSEB Vyttila Sub-Station.

EMS commemoration

Kochi: A meeting will be organised by the E.M.S. Sahakarana Library of the Ernakulam District Cooperative Bank at Kakkanad to mark the 9th death anniversary of E.M.S. Namboothirippad on Saturday. CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the meeting at 10.30 a.m., with P. Govinda Pillai making the memorial speech. A. Vijayaraghavan, MP, will make the keynote address. Mr. Pillai will also release a collection of poetry titled `Ottayante Choonduviral,' by Chemmanam Chacko at the function.

Book released

Kochi: `Sampoorna Shodasa Samkarangal,' a book on the traditional rituals associated with the Gowda Saraswata Brahmin community written by A.R. Balakrisna Prabhu, was released by M.A.T. Pai at Sukritheendra Oriental Research Institute, Thammanam. V. Nithyananda Bhatt received the first copy.
