HYDERABAD: The kidnap drama enacted by a ninth-standard student at Gandhinagar on Tuesday sent his parents and police officials into a tizzy. P. Sairam, a resident of Bholakpur, went missing since Monday morning when he went to a medical shop to purchase a pain balm and did not return home until midnight. He telephoned his father Shankar on Tuesday morning saying three persons, including a woman, had whisked him away in a car from Kavadiguda and that he managed to divert their attention and escape. The boy, a student of Vaidik Vidhyalaya in Kavadiguda, stated he was waiting at Alpha hotel near Secunderabad railway station. Then Shankar rushed to the hotel and took Sairam to the house.
To mislead parents
Police said the boy had enacted an abduction drama to mislead his parents as he did not attend school. He apparently wandered around the city all day and slept near Gandhi hospital for the night. "We were worried about him since last night in the wake of a series of kidnap cases reported in the twin cities, but finally he reached home safe," Gandhinagar Sub-Inspector S. Mohan Reddy said.
