BANGALORE: Karnataka State Police (KSP) defeated Sports Authority of India (SAI) 1-0 for its fifth win in the senior division football league for the George Hoover Cup at the Football Stadium here on Thursday. The match-winner was scored by N. Karthick in the 65th minute. KSP now has 18 points from eight matches (five wins and three draws), while SAI has accumulated just seven points from eight matches (one win and four draws). In the `A' division, Dharmaraja Union downed Government Press 3-2. Ranjith Kumar (28th and 48th) and Lawrence (33rd minute) scored for the winners, while Vijay Babu (31st) and Premkumar (89th) netted the goals for Government Press. While Dharmaraja Union finished its engagements with six points (two wins), Government Press tallied 10 points (three wins, one draw) from its quota of matches. AGORC, with just four points one win, one draw), will be relegated to `B' division for the next season. Meanwhile, due to HASC's National Football League commitments, the remaining 12 senior division matches have been put off till May 12. HASC will complete its NFL engagements on May 10. The BDFA will conduct the `B' division football league at the Football Stadium from April 12.
PCTC in final
Pioneer Corps Training Centre defeated Sports Authority of India 7-6 in a thriller to enter the final of the Travancore Cup hockey tournament at the hockey stadium here on Thursday. SAI and PCTC ended up with a score of 6-6 till Munda scored the match-winner one minute before the final whistle. Cyprian Aind (17th, and 57th), Baig (35th), Sairam Singh (37th), Anthony Hemram (50th and 55th) and Munda (69th) scored for the winner, while Vinay (10th,) Kalappa (15th), Navneeswaran (16th), Varun Chinappa (21st and 49th)) and Nilesh (59th) scored for SAI `A'.

Yere Goud will lead Karnataka in the Inter-State all India Twenty20 cricket tournament at Visakhapatnam from April 3 to 8. The team: Yere Goud (captain), Robin Uthappa, Devraj Patil, C. Unbeaten knocks by openers Vijay Madhyalkar (92 n.o.) and C. Sasi Kumar (82 n.o.) and their 179-run partnership helped State Bank of Mysore (SBM) defeat Syndicate Bank by 10 wickets in a KSCA Group II, first division league match here on Wednesday. Syndicate Bank scored 178 for seven in 60 overs and SBM surpassed the score in 15.1 overs. The scores: Syndicate Bank 178 for seven in 60 overs (Rajesh Kamath 71 n.o.) lost to SBM 179 for no loss in 15.1 overs (Vijay Madhyalkar 92 n.o., C. Sasi Kumar 82 n.o.). GoSports' camp
