Congress suppressing information on Netaji: AIFB

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The All-India Forward Bloc (AIFB) on Thursday criticised the United Progressive Alliance Government for stating that it did not have any information on the role of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the Freedom struggle and demanded an apology.

Charging that there was a "concerted effort" by the Congress to suppress information on Netaji, AIFB general secretary Debabrata Biswas said the party refused to believe that the Government response to an application filed under the Right to Information could have been a case of bureaucratic mistake.

Mr. Biswas said he had written a letter to Home Minister Shivraj Patil demanding punishment for the officers responsible for the answer; efforts to straighten up all the records pertaining to Netaji; steps to declassify all documents pertaining to the INA and Azad Hind Fauj and introduce more about Netaji in school and college syllabus.
