Anirudh to lead Hyderabad

HYDERABAD : Anirudh Singh will lead Hyderabad in the Twenty20 South Zone cricket championship at Visakhapatnam from April 3, according to N. Shivlal Yadav, secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association.

According to official sources in the HCA, V.V.S. Laxman informed the top brass long back about his inability to play in this tournament.

The team: Anirudh Singh (capt), D.B. Ravi Teja, D. Rushi Raj, A.T. Rayudu, N. Arjun Yadav, Sashank Nag, T. Suman, Alfred Absolom, M.P. Arjun, P. Indrasekhar Reddy, Amol Shinde, Rohit Sabharwal, Ibrahim Khaleel, Minash Gabriel, P. Pragyan Ojha and Santosh Yadav. Coaches: Vivek Jaisimha and Kanwaljeet Singh. Manager: Naresh Sharma (EMCC).

SAP applications

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh invites applications from the eligible sportspersons to be nominated for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2006 along with performance of the individual at the international level including Olympics, Asian\Commonwealth Games, World Cups and the World Championships between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006.

Coaching camps

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh will organise summer coaching camps in different disciplines, according to Dr. N. Nageswara Rao, VC & MD, SAAP.

The venues and disciplines:

Hyderabad: Lal Bahadur Stadium: Athletics, boxing, basketball, cricket, gymnastics, handball, volleyball, yoga, football, tennikoit, wrestling, skating, swimming, table tennis, badminton and tennis; Gymkhana Grounds (Sec'bad): Athletics, boxing, basketball, cricket, hockey, handball, volleyball, yoga, football and tennis; Osmania University cycling velodrome: Skating, cycling, table tennis; Yousufguda indoor stadium: Basketball and badminton; Saroornagar stadium: Badminton; GMC Balayogi Stadium: Badminton, swimming; Central University SAAP shooting ranges: Shooting; Hussain Sagar: Water sports.
