"We have opened five new training centres in Delhi with the aim to create fully trained professionals. The centres will cater to both Indian and foreign students. Recognition has always been given to software engineering but now the importance of hardware engineering in computers has also been identified. This sector would employ 4.8 million professionals both directly and indirectly by 2008," said the Chairman and Managing Director of GT Computers, S.K. Gupta, at a press conference here.

The mobile phone maintenance course will not only enable students to work at mobile service stations but also provide them expertise so that they can start their own business.

Pointing out that the entire perception of mobile phones had undergone a sea change, Mr. Gupta said the phones had moved beyond a tool for spoken communication to a mini-entertainment product containing games, video messaging and internet connections. "As a result of the extensive use of digital cellular technology, the demand for professionals for the mobile phone industry has increased significantly. Similarly, computers have become such a vital part of our personal and professional lives that it is hard to imagine a single day without them. We want to create employees who are skilled," he added.
