Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam on Monday stood at 109 feet (full level 136 feet) with no inflow and a discharge of 127 cusecs for meeting drinking water needs of Theni district.

The level in the Vaigai dam was 30.45 feet (full level 71 feet) with no inflow and a discharge of 41 cusecs.

The combined Periyar credit stood at 774 mcft, according to PWD sources.

Rally taken out

MADURAI: A rally was taken out from Kunnathur Government Middle School on Saturday for creating environmental awareness by Charity for Harmony, Education and Social Service (CHESS) trust, Peace Trust, Dindigul, and Union Ministry of Environment and Forests. S. Joseph Arokiya Dass and P. Ramasamy spoke on solid waste management. Competitions on creating awareness of environment were also held, according to a press release.
