Government not to seek other details for land registration

Staff Reporter

Kochi: The Government on Tuesday assured the Kerala High Court that the Registration authorities would not insist on filing a form furnishing the details of the building along with other documents while registering land transactions.

Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan recorded the submission of the Government pleader that the Registration department would not insist on any conditions, which were not stipulated in the Registration Rules.

The submission was made when writ petitions filed by the Kerala Document Writers' Association and others came up.

Petitioners' contention

The petitioners contended that the registration authorities could not insist on filing the form since no amendment had been brought to the Registration Rules.

They pointed out that a common man could not provide the details of the building including the use of electrical wires and cables without the help of a civil engineer.
