JALANDHAR: David Johnson, a UK athletics coach, is here to interact with Punjab coaches and athletes during a programme organised by the Punjab Sports Department here from April 7 to 21. Seventy coaches including some from Punjab Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) would be attending the course. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Punjab Sports Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike said that the British coach was the third foreign coach to visit Punjab to train coaches and athletes. Earlier, an American basketball coach and an Italian boxing coach had held short courses in Ludhiana and Chandigarh. Sports Director Pargat Singh said that Johnson, who was a British national coach from1985 to 1988, would conduct many sessions for all levels of athletes and coaches while he is in Jalandhar. The British coach, who was a triple jumper in his competitive days, specialises in jumps, hurdles and sprints.
