BANGALORE: Following property dispute, an elderly man was clubbed to death allegedly by his two sons in Channapatna police station limits in Bangalore Rural district on Monday evening. Police gave the name of the dead as Munendra Raje Urs (65), resident of Koodlur village. His two sons, Shivashankar and Nagesh, were reportedly upset over he not handing over the ancestral property to them. The two attacked Urs with clubs, causing head injuries, the police said. A seriously injured Urs was rushed to NIMHANS and he died there, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Channapatna sub-division) Halesh Naik told The Hindu on Tuesday. The two brothers have locked their house and fled, the police said .

Channapatna Taluk Janata Dal (Secular) president K.V. Puttaswamy Gowda was injured after a group of party workers allegedly assaulted him. The police said a faction of the party was angry with Mr. Gowda with regard to nomination of members to a Mylanayakanahalli village cooperative society. The workers from the rival faction went to his house in Channapatna on Tuesday to question him in this regard. Following heated exchanges, they assaulted Mr. Gowda and injured him on the face, the police said.
