Jammu : Panic gripped the Samba district near the Pakistan border after several mortar shells landed in a hamlet during a practice exercise by the Army, officials said on Wednesday. Army troops were engaged in routine practice exercise in their firing range, when some shells missed the target during the practice exercise at the Army's firing range and landed in the Babud village on Tuesday evening, they said. Troops rushed to the village to pacify the terrified people. Later, the villagers staged a protest against the Army and met Deputy Commissioner R.S. Jamwal, they said. PTI
