BELLARY: K. Chidananda Gowda, former Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University, underlined the need for students to gain knowledge in the fast changing era and utilise the same for the welfare of the mankind. He was speaking after inaugurating "IT Utsav 2007" organised by the Department of Master of Computer Appliances of the Vijayanagar Engineering College here on Friday. The information technology festival being held here was aimed at enriching the knowledge of the students on the trends in the field of information technology. Dr. Chidananda Gowda said that from the Stone Age era to the information technology era the world had seen many changes. "We are now entering a new era, that is the knowledge era and one had to cope with it before changes take place. Knowledge is strength and knowledge is an asset; so gain it and utilise it in the best possible way for development," he said.
