3 injured as Jagan's

car, lorry collide

BANGALORE: Three persons were injured when a bullet-proof sports utility vehicle (SUV) belonging to Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, collided with a lorry in HSR Layout on Saturday. A police officer was among those injured in the accident that happened around 10 a.m. when the high-end SUV was heading towards the airport to pick Mr. Reddy.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy's personal secretary Prabhakar, Sreenivasa, a reserve police sub inspector , who were in the SUV, and the driver Naryana were injured. The three are out of danger, the police said.

HYDERABAD: Nizamabad district tops the list across the State with 98 per cent progress in the use of Telugu name boards on commercial establishments, including shops. A.B.K. Prasad, chairman, Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission, in a press release, said that of the 6,546 establishments, 6,436 already had Telugu nameboards. — Special Correspondent

Polavaram work

HYDERABAD: In the light of the Supreme Court's recent interim order on Polavaram project, the Government has ordered re-commencement of the work in non-forest areas.

The apex court had issued the order while dealing with a petition against Polavaram works without wildlife sanctuary" clearance. The court said that the Government could take up the works of Polavaram without touching forest areas. — Special Correspondent
