BANGALORE: Over 100 farmers belonging to the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene left here on Saturday for New Delhi by Karnataka Express to stage a five-day protest in front of the Jantar Mantar in the national capital from May 1. The demonstration is to demand the intervention of the Centre to get justice for Karnataka on the Cauvery issue and to urge the State's MPs to fight for justice in unison. The other demands include waiver of bank loans in view of the farmers' suicides and sanction for the State's irrigation schemes. There was a scuffle between farmers and railway officials, who initially objected to their boarding the train without tickets. Eventually they went without tickets.
