HUBLI: Rakesh Vatash, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli, has urged railway employees to take steps for the effective implementation of Hindi in various departments. He was speaking after inaugurating "Rajbhasha Exhibition" organised as part of the valedictory function of "Rajbhasha Saptah" by the Hubli Division of South Western Railway here on Monday. Suneeta Manjanabail, Head of the Postgraduate Department, Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, said the performance of Railways in the implementation of Hindi had been excellent. She urged senior officials to encourage their colleagues to learn Hindi.

Elaborating on the achievement of the division in the implementation of Hindi, S.S. Joshi, Additional Chief Rajbhasha Adhikari and Additional Divisional Railway Manager, said the division won the "Rajbhasha Efficiency Rolling Shield" instituted by the South Western Railway Zone for 2006-07. Sandhya Kulkarni, Rajbhasha Adhikari of Hubli Division, said that the division had achieved 90 per cent progress in the implementation of Hindi in all its departments. During the year, she said, 41 officers and 282 employees had been honoured with merit certificates and cash awards for the implementation of Hindi. Twenty-two employees, who had passed the Hindi examination with distinction, were given cash awards. Vijaykumar Lande, Rajbhasha Superintendent, proposed a vote of thanks at the function.
